In deciding whether a person has assumed the role of a parent, a court must consider all aspects of the child's relationship with the adult, including financial provision, social interaction, and the adult’s role in discipline and education: Chartier v. Chartier, 1999 CanLII 707 (SCC), 43 R.F.L. (4th) 1, 235 N.R. 1, 168 D.L.R. (4th) 540.
