Depriving a successful party of costs should be limited to exceptional circumstances, not merely imperfect conduct or cases of questionable judgment. Conduct similar to that which justifies special costs against an unsuccessful party can justify depriving a successful party of costs: Parmar at para. 9; McKay v. Marx, 2012 BCSC 484 at para. 33.
