This approach was also adopted in Lang v. Lang, 2005 BCSC 1468, a case particularly relied on by the defendant. In that case, Gill J. distinguished cases where the terms of an offer were compared discretely on the grounds that, in the case before her, spousal support and division of property were linked, maintenance was time limited and the proceedings were not complex. Gill J. compared the overall settlement in determining if an award for double costs should issue.
