At ¶ 22, Low J.A. stated: … Although the authorities say that there should not be a purely mathematical approach, the facts in some cases lend themselves more readily to application of the mathematics of finance in the assessment process than do the facts in other cases. In a case like the present, the actuarial figures are of more than a little assistance in assessing damages though the exercise might appear to be one of calculation. They provide a framework for the assessment.
