The common law doctrine of privity of contract stands for the proposition that no one but the parties to a contract can be bound by it or entitled under it. This doctrine is an established principle of contract law, but it has considerably diminished force in Canada and persists only in weakened form: Brown v. Belleville (City), 2013 ONCA 148 at paras. 73, 79.
