As for the alleged blameworthy conduct by the respondent, he paid the required child support, the mortgage payments and the family debt. There is no evidence the claimant advised the respondent that she was in economic difficulty such that she could not make ends meet. As noted in Kerr v. Baranow, 2011 SCC 10 at para. 208, unlike a parent’s responsibility to support their child, the legal foundation for spousal is different. As summarized in Vik v. Vik, 2018 BCSC 611 at para. 72:
