In what circumstances will summary judgment be granted in a personal injury case?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Cormier v. 1772887 Ontario Limited (St. Joseph Communications), 2019 ONCA 965 (CanLII):

In determining that this was an appropriate matter for summary judgment, the motion judge specifically referred to and applied Hryniak v. Mauldin, 2014 SCC 7, [2014] 1 S.C.R. 87. He concluded that there was no genuine issue requiring a trial and that this case was appropriate for summary judgment. We see no error in that determination.
