In Yemchuk v. Yemchuk, 2005 BCCA 406 (CanLII), 2005 B.C.C.A. 406, at paragraph 50, Prowse J.A. noted that in a long-term marriage, where each has contributed his or her own resources, an equality of standard of living (which may not be the same as an equality of income) may be a just result. She also approved the use of the Draft Spousal Support Guidelines as a useful tool for assessing the quantum and duration of spousal support, to supplement the case law.
