What is the test for entitlement to lump sum spousal support?

Nova Scotia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Lace v. Gray, 2009 NSCA 26 (CanLII):

Entitlement to a lump sum award of spousal support may arise from both compensatory factors such as economic disadvantage arising from the breakdown of the marriage, and non‑compensatory factors such as promoting economic self‑sufficiency or the desire for a ‘clean‑break' between the parties ( See: Vynnk v. Baisa, [2007] O.J. No. 274, (aff'd at the O.C.A. at 2008 ONCA 657) ¶ 132‑139).
