While relying on the property assessments is not ideal, as noted by Groberman J.A. in Dosanjh v. Liang, 2015 BCCA 18, the court is often faced with a dearth of evidence when it comes to property value in family law cases. In such situations, property assessments have frequently been relied upon. He writes at paras. 60-61:
