A photographer failed to show up for a wedding in the case Diesen v. Samson (1970), 1 Scottish Law Times 49. The court concluded: ...it is only the pictorial record of the initial ceremony which has been lost. The court is required to preserve a sense of proportion and to exercise moderation where the quantification of the loss is so difficult. In my opinion, an award of £30 is as much as can be justified... A nominal award for mental distress consequent upon the breach was awarded.
