Nurses have a duty to conduct themselves when practising as nurses in accordance with the conduct of a prudent and diligent nurse in the same circumstances. Their conduct will be judged in light of the knowledge they ought to have reasonably possessed at the time of the alleged act of negligence (see ter Neuzen v.
