The following excerpt is from Spicer v. Bowater Mersey Paper Co., 2004 NSCA 39 (CanLII):

In my view the Newfoundland v. Collingwood case does not represent a departure from the concept of exclusiveness as developed in the earlier cases. That case merely states that the use in an emergency by a visitor of a shelter built by a squatter does not diminish the squatter’s otherwise exclusive possession.
