Is a contractor required to indemnify the city against liability under the Occupiers Liability Act?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Roy v. Andrushko, 1997 CanLII 2690 (BC SC):

It is evident from the reason for judgment in McCrank v. Enderby that the contractor in effect agreed to discharge the duties imposed upon the city under the Occupiers Liability Act. Consequently, it is understandable that the contractor was required to indemnify the city in the circumstances of that case.
