Because there is no consistency among marriages, there is no checklist in order to determine whether parties lived together in a marriage-like relationship. In Kneller v. Greenwood, 2015 BCSC 1410, Weatherill J. referred to a list of factors to consider in determining whether the parties met the definition of "spouses" under the Family Law Act, which I will not set out here. No single factor is determinative of the issue. Of note, financial interdependence may or may not be present as may be sexual relations.
