Finally, in Ma v. Li, 2016 BCSC 469, the parties were married in Beijing, China and subsequently immigrated to Canada. While they were married, the couple moved back and forth between China and Vancouver. The husband eventually opted to remain in Vancouver but the wife moved back permanently to China. During the marriage, they purchased a property in Vancouver that they held jointly. After they separated, they entered into divorce and separation agreements. The wife used some of the funds received pursuant to those agreements to purchase another property in Vancouver for herself.
