The Law Society requested an order under Rule 5-8(2) of the Rules that exhibits containing confidential client information or privileged information not be disclosed to members of the public. The Respondent consents to the order. However, recent amendments to Rules 5-8 and 5-9, in particular Rule 5-9(3), have made such an order unnecessary to prevent the disclosure of confidential or privileged information to the public. See Law Society of BC v. Edwards, 2020 LSBC 57 at paras. 118 to 121.
