Damage awards expressed in current dollars do not preclude entitlement to interest. Pre-judgment interest is intended to address both inflation and true interest. Inflation factors preserve the real value of money and the true interest compensates for being kept from that real value: Marante v. Neale, [1993] B.C.J. No. 9 (S.C.).
