18. If the record does not disclose the reasons trial counsel acted or failed to act in the manner challenged on appeal, we must assume counsel had a reasonable basis for acting or failing to act "unless the record . . . precludes the possibility of a satisfactory explanation" for trial counsel's action. (People v. Ledesma (2006) 39 Cal.4th 641, 746.)
