We are mindful of a court's high duty to keep out-of-court influences from directing the course of a jury's verdict. We give merited respect to the rule that 'the atmosphere essential to the preservation of a fair trial--the most fundamental[260 Cal.App.2d 434] of all freedoms--must be maintained at all costs.'
