The Sixth Amendment guarantees a criminal defendant the right to choose his or her counsel; however, a district court has discretion to disqualify the defendant's chosen attorney in cases of "actual conflict or potentially serious conflict" of interest, including cases of "multiple representation" or "prior representation of a witness or codefendant."
