Because the prosecutor's arguments discussed above were not improper or pervasive, or were cured by the trial court's instructions, there was no reason for a defense objection. Therefore, defense counsel's failure to object on the grounds of prosecutorial misconduct did not result in a violation of defendant's constitutional right to the effective assistance of counsel.
