Defendant contends his conviction and death sentence must be reversed because he was denied his right to represent himself in violation of Faretta v. California (1975) 422 U.S. 806, 95 S.Ct. 2525, 45 L.Ed.2d 562. We conclude defendant never invoked his right to self-representation because his references to such status were equivocal.
