What are the governing principles for an award for loss of housekeeping capacity?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Wolford v Shlakoff, 2017 BCSC 2043 (CanLII):

The governing principles that apply to awards for loss of impairment of housekeeping capacity were set out in Dykeman v. Porohowski, 2010 BCCA 36.

The claim for compensation under this head of damage must be scrutinized carefully. A relatively minor adjustment of duties within a household will not justify a discrete award under this head of damages. The court should ask whether the services went above and beyond the ordinary give and take to be expected in a home and were required by the plaintiff's injuries or would have been performed in any event: Tabet v. Hatzis, 2013 BCSC 1167 at para. 79.
