In McGill v. McGill, supra, it was held that the causal connection test does not apply to an application for interim spousal support. The proper test is based on need on the part of the applicant and an ability to pay on the part of the respondent.
Likewise, in Grossi v. Grossi, [1993] B.C.J. No. 878 (B.C.S.C.), the court held that an interim award should be sufficient to allow the applicant to continue living at the same standard of living if the ability to pay warrants it.
