Contempt of court proceedings in civil cases are governed by Rule 22-8. This Rule must be interpreted and applied in view of the common law discussing the court’s jurisdiction to punish for contempt. To quote the words of Mr. Justice Chiasson in Larkin v. Glase, 2009 BCCA 321 at paras. 8–9 [Larkin]:
