Because civil contempt proceedings are quasi-criminal in nature, the rules of strictissimi juris apply. Evidence in support of the contempt application must be admissible at trial; no hearsay, opinion or conclusions are receivable: Jackson v. Honey, 2009 BCCA 112 at para. 12.
