Pursuant to section 35 of the Act, children’s aid societies are tasked with a number of functions, including the investigation of allegations that children may be in need of protection, and the protection of children. Part of their mandate is to provide guidance, counselling and other services to families for protecting children or to prevent circumstances requiring the protection of children. Children’s aid societies are also required to adequately supervise, when required to do so. See: Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto v. T.T.L., 2019 ONCJ 530
