Similar findings were made in Chera v. Chera, 2008 BCSC 465, appealed on other issues and aff’d 2008 BCCA 374. In that case, there was no assertion of contributions towards improvements. The court described the living situation between the parties, similar to that in the case at bar, as “communal family living, not uncommon in the parties’ culture” where the contributions made by the wife were what was expected in the household.
