The following excerpt is from People v. Cardenas, H034519 (Cal. App. 2011):
"Section 669 grants the trial court broad discretion to impose consecutive sentences when a person is convicted of two or more crimes. [Citations.]" (People v. Shaw (2004) 122 Cal.App.4th 453, 458.) A sentencing court's decision to impose consecutive sentences will not be disturbed in the absence of a clear showing of abuse of discretion. (People v. Giminez (1975) 14 Cal.3d 68, 72.) No such showing was made here.
