What is the test for assessing loss of income as a factor in or component of the assessment of non-pecuniary damages?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Pond v. Bucsis, 2013 BCSC 2001 (CanLII):

It is open to the court to compensate for a loss of this kind as a factor in or component of the assessment of non‑pecuniary damages. When the loss cannot otherwise be quantified, it is preferable to address it as an aspect of non‑pecuniary damages (see Eaton v. Regan, 2005 BCSC 3 at paras. 41-46).
