Does a self-represented party have the authority to seek adjournment at the adjournment hearing?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Atas v. Côté, 2008 CanLII 32311 (ON SC):

The fact that the party seeking the adjournment is self-represented does not mean that an adjournment must always be granted. See, for example, Edward v. Niagra, supra, where Cameron J.’s refusal to grant an adjournment to a self-represented party was upheld.
